A seamstress I'm not.

The couch covers were not big enough at the cabin and would'd stary on as you know, so I decided I could make a larger couch cover out of the one by adding part of the other, and I did get a larger cover for the couch but I had a piece left over and not enough on the side. What a mess. Becky helped me decide to sew the piece I cut out back in and hopefully it will fit something. I'm afraid it is too large for the red chair, so mabe it will fit the loveseat upstairs. It seemed like a simple project, but believe me it wasn't. Now you know why I hate to sew. It makes me think bad words just like milking cows did.

July 28 at cabin

A good share of this vegetation will go when Matt Bates digs it up to put dirt and gravel under the porch. It will be a mess for awhile. Will send you another picture during the work and after it is finished. It was a necessity because the dirt is sluffing off by the foundation.

Finally July 28th at cabin this morning

This is the back of house. Matt Bates will be taking a lot of this fill to put under the porch in the front. I will send a picture of the front of the house also. I thought I sent it first, but can't see it.

Huckleberries are few and far between - July 27

Becky went with me to look for huckleberries above the cabin and up bear wallow with the 4 wheelers but we didn't have much luck. The best bush is in our yard.

The front porch

I don't know if I will ever get the hang of this or not. This is where I like to relax. It is so quiet and peaceful.

Saturday - Blue Angels Show

What a show we saw on Derek's yard. It was well worth going for. There was 6 of them. but I didn't get the best pictures. They would come so fast out of nowhere and would be over before I could get a shot of them. Some of us didn't put sunblock on and I am suffering fron sunburn but I will survive. Hope we can all soar like these blue angels. Awesome sight!

I love flowers

These are the flowers that are blooming at my home right now. My hanging tomatoe is to the right of the red rose but I don't think it is doing so great. We shall see. The pink bush is by the large pine tree in front of the house. It is a start from the big one in front of house. I think the purple daisys are quite pretty. Today we finished the lilacs. Becky was out there at daylight again. Dad really wacked down some of the bushes by the garden side. Have a happy day.

Busy day doing nothing much.

Just wishful thinking. Our kitchen floor will have to wait. Dad had Matt Bates look at our cabin front porch which Dad has been worried about and he thinks it has even more serious problems. So that has to come first. I'm not sold on this piece anyway. Dad went to Uncle Larry's today and got the lumber he ordered. Wendy and her kids went with him.

Peas today!

As you can tell from Becky's blog we worked on cutting off lilacs this morning. She was out there working an hour before we realized she was out there. Then we went to Shanells to wish Cade a happy birthday early as we work in the Temple on Friday and we are tired then. This afternoon Becky helped me pick the few peas that we had that were ready and pod them. So it has been a busy day again. I told Becky I didn't want any more pictures of me because I look so old and tired. So we will have fresh peas tonight although I allready ate a lot. Yum Yum!

Jam day

I was planning on taking a picture of the fineshed product, not the one in progress. The word for my blog today is tired. I cleaned a lot of strawberries that we got from the store and made 3 batches of jam. I cut up a pineapple, washed some cherries and so I am tired. This morning while Becky and Dad were doing that crapy job, I cleaned out the little room at the top of the stairs that has been bugging Dad. I went to two stores in town and Dad had to go to 3 more so it has been quite a day and that was before 4 o'clock. Good thing we got up so early. Hope you day has been a little less stressfull.

I'm cheating for my picture today. I forgot to take my camera with me when we went to Tetonia today to hear Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Glen talk. They got back from their mission on Monday night late. I'm sure their family is glad to have them back. Becky didn't go with us as she had other obligations. It brought back a lot of memories of living in the Valley. At least half of the men who wore jackets, had on western jackets and even some of them had levis on. They were talking about their horses and I thought Heavenly Father would be happy to see those old cowboys at church worshiping him. This picture was really taken up Teton Canyon which is nearer Driggss than Tetonia, but they are still standing. I love to look at them. They inspire me.
The Tetons are very beautiful to me.

This is the fun part of the day, playing games. Becky and I have played a lot of games with Tyler and Micah since they have been here. Wendy even got in on the fun. Becky will tell you about the part of the day which was not fun at all. In fact it was s_____.

Friday, July 16, 2010

This is my art work for the day. That is the first picking of our peas. We had a great day and I have lots of pictures I would like to send. Becky, Tyler, Micah and I played games last night and this morning. Then Katrina brought her kids and we ate lunch together and then we went outside and the kids played in the sandbox with all of the mountains, and canyons and lakes. It was fun. Then they played on the slip and slide and squirted water at each other from the neat squirters I bought a couple of years ago which we did not get to use last year. Jen and Kinsley joined in with our fun. Becky had to go to the store to work for a kid until close and Micah went with her. Dad worked in the temple, rourtertilled and he is tired. Didn't mean to get carried away. Guess this is my journal.

This is a picture of Dad operating his new garage door opener that we all gave to him for his birthday that is coming up soon. I'm sure he is going to enjoy it very much. I think he was quite surprised and pleased. Thanks kids for getting him something so usefull.

A Great Day at the Cabin!

Today was filled with fun and work. First, Becky, Dad, and I weatherproofed half of the balcony at the cabin. We ran out of weatherproofing stuff in an hour so we only got it half done. Becky, Tyler, and Micah took the 4-wheeler and found the road up to the top of the mountain across from the cabin. They waved at us on the porch. Later, Dad drove us all up in the pickup so we could see it too! That was exciting to me. Here is a picture of the balcony and the mountain-view of me on top.

July 13 post

We were not here last night for me to post my picture as we were at the cabin, but I did take a picture yesterday. It was kaitlyn's birthday and she was 9 years old. She got a cool bike for her birthday so I got a picture of her. She said her Dad picked it out and I think he did well. I got some good pictures at the cabin also. It was so beautiful up there. We had Tyler and Micah with us as their Mom and Mariah are at girls camp. Becky intertained them a lot. See ya Mom

The job I hate to do

BEFORE!
AFTER!
Today I cleaned out my fridge. One of my most dreaded jobs. Afterwards it didn't look much different, except the freezer was better. Come to my house as you can see we have too much produce to eat. We will share. Have a good day!

Relief Society Lesson on the Atonement

I thought this was a fitting way to start my blog. Today I taught the lesson on The Atonement. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever belieth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16) The Atonement is the most important event that has ever occured in the history of mankind.
