Happy birthday Nicole! Mixed Bag!!!

Last Sunday one of the Bishopbric tole Dad and I that they were going to release

us from the ward library.  He asked us to be a partron in the Temple.

We are going to be doing sealings every Friday.

Then he told me I was going to be released as a Relief Society teacher.

Guess what? To our surprise they released a lot and put in a

new Young Womens Presidency and two weeks ago a

new Primary Presidency, but they didn't release us.

Strange.  I have been expecting a release from R. S. for 2 months now.

My lesson is coming up again in two weeks, so I am working on a new lesson.

I'm getting packed to go on a trip with Rilla and Bonnie in the morning

for 3 days or so.  We are going to spend some time at the

cabin and probably in Jackson and maybe the Park.

Saturday Sept. 24

A few things are changing colors, but it is later than usual.

It was so nice outside at the cabin.

Notice Becky's smile.  She had just taken a picture of me among a lot of them.

I finally got one of her.

We had a good time although I was very tired as I took a walk up the trail

above the cabin earlier and then went over the hillsides trying to find a

suitable christmas tree.

Lota and lots of trees, but only one I liked that was single tree.

We got into one area where all of the trees had about 3 tops.

They were nice and full, but it was weird.

I told Becky they must have a genetic disorder.

Friday, Sept. 23

Look what is coming your way Kendra.

The raspberries are really tall.

Becky said she doesn't have a truck.

Hope you enjoy them and the strawberry starts.

What a beautiful first day of Fall.

This is Dad's favorite place to sit in the evenings.

This week had been the most beautiful one we have had all year.

The high has only been in the low 70"s.

Today I finished the peaches I am going to bottle.

Fourteen more bottles to add to the 21 we did tuesday.

Becky fixed me some shelfs to put them on.

They are really beautiful.

I think that fruit and vegetables are beautiful also.

An apple a day......

The apples are getting redder.

Today I picked a few from this tree and made one of Dad's favorite desserts.

Becky mowed tonight and some of these apple limbs were hanging in her way.

what a "Peachy" day.

Those peaches will sure taste good this winter.

Garden work and produce.

Look at the 4 cabbages I got from our garden.

I got these plants free so that is pretty good.

The news is out!

Look at that sharp looking car.  It is very comfortable and  I think maybe

now I will be able to take a trip.

It is a toyota Highlander and I can even pronounce the name.

We are off to church.

Today I worked at the Temple for another Sister.

This is a strange picture I know.  We were coming home from Idaho

Falls the other night and the Harvest Moon was so bright.

I tried to get a picture with the Rexburg Temple in it with the moon.

It didn't work very well.

I worked in the Temple for another woman this morning.

Becky told me to just come at 7 instead of 5 which was nice of her.

The sister will work for me the next week.

Don't these tomatoes that Wendy gave us look great?

They really taste good.  Ours haven't ripened yet.

trip to Idaho Falls.

We went to Idaho Falls and saw Wendy's garden.  They have had a great one this year.

Look at the pumpkins, she has about 24 of them.

Her strawberries look great and they sure taste good.

We stopped at Ottesons and Elise showed us her bedroom.

Kendra did a good job of painting tinkerbell on her wall.

Visting Teaching.

Sister Janet Barrus is my partner and we went visiting teaching today.

We took 3 hours for 3 women.  Two of them needed

a longer visit than usual.

This is Jodie Crofoots home.

Her husband is Becky and Dad's dentist.

This is Beth Lusk and she is only here for the summer.

They are all good sisters and we enjoy going to visit them each month.

"Spud Harvest"

Today Dad dug our potatoes and I picked them up.

Some are pretty good size.

Tonight we had fried spuds with bacon and we only needed 2 of them for 3 of us.

We got almost 3 buckets with a few cukes thrown in.

Now Dad should be able to roto till if he wants to.

September 11, 2011-Sunday

Most people who are old enough to know what sad thing happened 10 years ago,

but how many of you know what happened 65 years ago?  I do as I was 6 years old and we were so joyfull when my twin brothers,

Uncle Lyle and Uncle Lynn were born in Rexburg Idaho.

They didn't even know that Mom was going to have twins.

Lynn was 5 pounds and Lyle was only a little over 3 pounds.

Mom developed severe arthritis and suffered with it for the rest of her life.

We passed this grain combine when we were coming home yesterday through the shortcut.

Today when I called Lyle, he told me it was him in the combine.

He was down cutting grain for Brad and Justin.

Sand to fill in the cracks by the rocks on top of retaining wall at cabin.

Matt is busy filling in the stones on top of the retaining way.

Becky helped Matt's son, Riggin, to fill the wheelbarrow with sand.

He was having a great time with Becky which is no surprise to

anyone.  She had a talent with small children.

Now there is sand inbetween the stones and it is built up to be level with the stones

on the outside.  It looks very good.

Matt and Riggin had lunch with the 3 of us.

We were glad he made it up to finish the project before winter came.

Fiday Sept. 9th. "Cinderfella's" first birthday.

It is hard to believe that you are 1 year old today Ashlyn.

We are sorry that you all got sick that night.

Hopefully you are all well now.

September 8th, Thursday. Eye apointment.

These are my glasses now.  Soon I will have some new ones.

I don't always like change, but hopefully this will be a change for the better.

I went to Dr. Shawn Galbraith and my eyes are healthy.

I was a little worried about Macular degenitive because it is hereditary

and my Grandmother, Aunt Margean, and Aunt Bonnie have it or

had it.  You kids need to keep on top of this as your Grandmother Bates

also had it.  So far so good.

Dryed fruit.

Yesterday I dried some strawberries and a few peaches and plums.

I want to try to make some bags like the instant Oatmeal that we like so well.

I will let you know how it turns out.

Dad finally let us change his bandage and it looks like it may be infected.

He soaked it in epson salts and water.

He worked way to hard putting the carpet and things in the shed all alone.

Becky was at work and I was at a Humanitarian project at the DI.

Tuesday Sept. 6. Ready for compost.

Dad built this frame today from boards he got at the cabin.

Needless to say his bandage is very dirty.  He has been working way too hard.

Becky helped him staple and hammer and screw on the chicken wire on the frame.

Monday Sept. 5--Great breakfast.

Becky got up early and made us a great breakfast.

French toast, bacon, and eggs and don't forget the hot chocolate. Yummy.

I almost missed Derek when he and Becky headed for horse heaven.

They had a great time.  I wish I could go up there but better not.

Sunday Sept. 4--Sacrament meeting at Victor.

Becky is ready to go to Church.

We were able to see Lynn. Lyle, Tim and Amy.

We were glad when Derek came to be with us Sunday night.

We were able to play a lot of games.

Becky took a long walk up the road today, clear up to Bear Wallow.

Friday Sept. 3 Up to the cabin for the weekend.

Dad and Becky dug up 4 little pine tree behind the cabin and put into buckets

to take home.  They are cute little trees.

Beccky is ready to go up behind the cabin to look for huckleberries.

We didn't find any but had a nice ride.

Class mates from the class of "58".

Here are the nine of us "girls" who met today at Sizzlers in Idaho Falls at 11 AM.

We had a good visit until 1:30PM.

We try to get together with a few more at least 2 times a year.

We are all growing older, but the former cheer leaders are the ones who have

changed the most. 

Zucchini Bread. Thursday Sept. 1

Thanks for telling me what to do Kendra.  I made 4 loafs and they turned okay.

I put raisens in one, choclate chips in another one and the other 2 just plain.
