Recipes, and more recipies

I tried to get some of the recipies I have had lying in the cubbard in boxes so I tell tell whats what. It was quite a mess but should be better now.
This shows the backs of Sondreggers trees. Now the backs of three trees are scalped and one to the left of the picture is topped. It doewsn't look very nice. The good old power company is having a hay day again. Then they moved down behind Arnells. So Our view isn't as nice as it was. By the way they are trying to get a 13.5% raise in the power charges also. Upsetting!!

Christmas lights

Don't you love the blue lights above the computer cubbards. I love them.
This is a closeup on some of the decorations on our tree that Becky showed you. Thanks to her we got it decorated. It looks so much better than my picture yesterday. I guess we all look better when we are dressed up a little.

Derek and Becky went to Teton Valley to Henderson canyon to get our christmas trees. I think they did a great job. There was a lot of snow up there. Look at Becky's blog.

The day after-----

Derek and Becky put up the nativity scene and lights today. They will have to tell you about their adventures last night and today at the big sales in IF. Dad and I worked in the Temple today so we had a good excuse not to go. We did get up early though as Dad always gets up at 2:30 on our temple day.
I love our nativity Scott. It always looks so good to me. Thank you for making it for us. I even spray painted it this year and Wendy commented on me spray painting the garbage container also. It is hard to believe that Christmas is less than a month away now.

Thanksgiving Day November 26, 2010

Looking at the Ad's for "Black" friday sales. I'm not sure why Dad was looking as he didn't go to any sales. Hope everyone was able to get what they wanted without a lot of trouble.
Of course the best part is enjoying good food with your cousins and all your loved ones. They look a little tired in this picture don't you think?
Sure glad we have Becky to cut up the turkey. We are so very blessed for our physical blessings plus our spiritual ones. We missed you Black family. We hope you had a good day also down at the Black family in Panquitch. We are so blessed with a great family. Love you all.

Results of snow and wind

As you can see Dad was shoveling snow again today. Yesterday h3 had about 6 inches and now you can see what we has today. I finally had to call TV and ask them to come and move our dish and realign it so they won't be here until Friday afternoon. It is too bad as Dad asked the man to put it in another place and he was in a hurry and didn't. Becky has been busy helping me again today. She cleaned the fridge and went to the store for me. Hope you all have a good day.

Monday November 22 shuffle day

Becky helped me to move the planters around and some other things. You will have to come to out house to see what else we moved. No TV for the past 3 days have not been good. Read Becky's blog to see what else we had to deal with . Lots of snow and wind today and Dad shoveled a lot and used the snow blower.

Best part of Sunday Lunch

Eskino pies are so good. Dad doesn't like them so it leaves that many more for Becky and me. Yum! Yum! Don't you think that is a balanced diet?

Tis the Season at our home---

We had lots of snow this morning which caused a number of complications. First I changed my mind and didn't go to Josephs babys shower in Ashton. Rilla came, but Bonnie and I didn't go. Today Targee ski hill opened. They have received 6 feet of snow since October. The power was out here for almost 2 hours and the snow caused the TV to quite sending signals. Becky and Dad had to go on the roof to brush snow off.
I thought you grandkids might want to see the playhouse, swings, sand box ect. You notice that no one is out there today. This snow all came in the night and this morning. At some times the flakes were the size of your hands.
Becky helped me put up the decorations in the diningroom and the livingroom. Don't they look nice. I needed something to cheer me up. The blue lights up above the curtains and the computer desk are beautiful.
Here comes Santas train. Choo Choo!

Company for supper!

Katrina and Lance and family came tonight for supper and surprised Grandpa. So I decided to do a little baking. I came up with an unusual meal (tinfoil suppers). When was the last time you had that? I think the kids liked especially the bacon. It was fun to have them here.
Oh there was one missing from the meal so you can see her below. She was just chilling on the love seat. If you are hungry, come on to my house.
Ashlyn looks very peaceful doesn't she. The only problem is she likes to sleep in the day and not in the night so well. Sounds familar doesn't it? Hope she sleeps better tonight than last night.

Happy Apple

Talk about lame pictures. This is one. Tonight my legs were killing me so I decided to take an early bath and so I soaked for 2 hours from about 6 to 8PM. How nice that was. I reccomend it for your sanity. I say a sign today that said "When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on". I bathed with my happy apple tonight that the kids like. This is one of two toys that we saved from the flood. The other was a doll that was in the tub. We had just moved Shanell and her crib downstairs the week before the flood and all of the toys also so the rest were history. My cure for stress, take a bath and read a good exciting book.

Windy, windy day

My windchime was going crazy today. It made a beautiful sound though. Becky thinks it is to noisy but I love the sound of it. Thanks Kendra and Jared. This morning when we went to the Temple to do sealings, it was very windy and cold. No new snow though. Notice the snow is melted in the yard today. Looks a little different from the picture with Janet Barrus.
Dad just keeps trying to keep up to the leaves. Look at the one apple tree on the right and you can see a lot of the leaves are down but not so on the other apple tree. Now I need to go out and help him bag them up. He is a hard worker.

Sisterhood through visiting teaching

I feltI felt bad when Becky and I were split up and couldn't go together out visiting teaching. I did luck out with a great companion in Sister Barrus. It is good to get to know her better and also the women we visit. Notice the new snow we got just an hour before we went visiting. I just heard on the news that the Teton Pass is closed. Guess winter is here for sure.
Here is Jodie Crowfoot who we visit. Here she is with her 4 year old twins. She hasn't been lucky enough to have anymore yet. They remind me of Koria and Kimball.
Here is Sister barrus with Biya Wood who we also visit. She has great decorations for each holiday and her home inside is filled with fun things always. We went to another woman for the summer but she has moved South for the winter.

Sunday Relief Society Lesson on Baptism

Today was my Relief Society Lesson on Baptism. It went very well inspite if a very stressful day. It was our fast meeting today as we had Stake Conference last sunday. I sat out in the foyer for sacrament meeting as I have trouble sitting in the chapel on those benches and I knew I had to work in the library and teach a lesson. Then Dad and I had trouble with the copy machine in the library and when I looked at the time, I should have been across the building to have prayer before my lesson so I had to rush, rush, rush to get there. Then after the lesson I was supposed to leave early and go to library and was late for that as I had to get my teaching supplies from the front of the room after prayer. Then I rushed to library and the other lady said she could handle it and I left as I needed to get a temple reccommend interview. Becky and I had an interview as Dad renewed his in July after I washed his for the second time. The man in the Bishopbric told me we needed to go to see the Stake President to get it signed tonight at 4-5. Then Matt and Jen Black (Jared's brother and his wife) had us over to eat at 1:45PM. We left at quarter to 4 and came home and went to church house and read sign that they met at 5-6 and did not meet on fast Sunday. Then Becky reminded me that I needed mine for Wednesday when Dad and I do sealings. The man in the Bishopbric that interviewed me took my old reccomend although he didn't take Beckys. We went to his house and he said he had shredded it. What to do now. He told us to call one of Stake Presidency and try to get them to sign it for me. I called them all and no one home. The Stake President's wife said they were in a meeting together somewhere. We went back to the Stake house and I waited out in waitingroom hoping that they were in a meeting there. Thank goodness they were and one of them interviewed me and thank goodness I now have one for Wednesday. Today has been very stressful.
This is my old one which has now been shredded. Thanks again for the cover Wendy. I also talked to Rilla, Bonnie and Mary Lou today. What a day. Now I am caught up and can relax and it is only 8:30PM.

November 13 - Desperation day!

Today Dad, Becky, Derek, Rod, Elise, Cade and Landon went up to the cabin to shut it down for the winter. They turned out the water and brought home all of the things from the fridge, cubbards and sheets to wash. I stayed here and did the mundane things like washing and cleaning and misc. things. Wendy and Tyler came to see me and it was good to see them. I was tired that night and realized I was a day behind on my blog and no picture for the day, hence this desperation picture. Two signs that winter is here. The very last roses on my bush in front and the winter place mat. Boring I know.

Friday Nov. 12 - Temple day

Today all three of us worked in the Temple. Here is my Temple bag and my reccommend in its nice case that Wendy gave to us. We are so blessed to be able to serve in the Temple. It is a wonderful peaceful place.

I blanced and froze veggies today and made 6 bags of veggies for stir frys. I'm sure we will enjoy it this winter.

Wednesday November 10 - Fresh lime anyone?

All day long, your Dad and I juiced limes. What a job. We wee tired whne we got done. We ended up with 4 quarts of juice which we are freezing in ice cube trays all ready to us in fresh limes.

Becky's window, night and day

Last night I went out and got a picture of Becky's blue Christmas lights in her window. Kinda cool isn't it.
This shows the snow on the rose bush and the blue lights. I think they look great.
This is what it looked like this morning. We got losts of snow yesterday. Today was much calmer. It is cold though. When we ate supper tonight it was only 25 degrees. Brrrrrrr

rain and snow

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was beautiful, warm and in the 60's. Today is dreary and cold and in the 30's. Thats Idaho for you.

Ashlyn's Blessing Nov. 7, 2010

Here the kids are waiting to get on the swing and fly into the pile of leaves that Becky had raked up. See Becky's regular blog to see more of them. She got some great shots.
Meanwhile inside it seemed like Dad and Wendy and Shanell were having a serious discussion. They needed to lighten up and go outside and see the kids play in the leaves.
Becky showed you the family group picture so I decided to show the Bates kids only. It doesn't look like Ashlyn was enjoying all the pictures. She was hungry and wanted to have the pictures over with.
When we left they were all waving goodbye and Becky got in the car and said I can wave my legs to so they had to all get into the act and wave their feet also. We had a great time at your home Lance and Katrina. I got a good movie of your parents Katrina, just as they were getting ready to leave.

"Bush Haircut"

This is a picture I took earler in the summer. The rose bush looks really nice. The "kids" don't look too bad either.
Today I had to give my poor rosebush a cut back so we can get by it on the sidewalk in the winter. It looks pretty sad doesn't it. Next spring I will get another picture when it starts to bloom. Sometimes we have to be cut back in order to bloom.

My Moms birthdate- (November 5, 1916)

Today would have been my Mom's (Viona Farnsworth Schiess) 94th birthday. This Lilly is a start from my Mom's plant. It didn't look good this spring so I put it outside on the porch for all summer. Then before it froze, I repotted it and brought it inside. It bloomed just in time for my Mothers birthday. She loved flowers and had lots of them in her baywindow. We especially enjoyed them in the winter.
I love Pansies and I think I got this love for them from my Mom. I heard the weather is going to change next week and we will only be in the 30's so I decided to bring me in a bouquet before it freezes. Aren't they beautiful?
