Halloween/trick or treaters.

"witch" treat is better?
Candy, nuts, or ........

Cauliflower, red or green peppers, onions or blended strawberries?

Becky hates the smell of onions and peppers.
They make her nose run.
Can't you just smell them?

Sunday October 30- Otteson's Primary program.

I couldn't take a picture of the kids in the chapel, but they did well on their parts.
The girl next to Landon was really annoying, but he kept smiling.
Shanell gave me some applesauce, Plum/apple butter and
Apple/strawberry jelly.  Thanks Shanell.
I have tasted the plum apple butter and it is very good.

Saturday October 29--Chimes/ old cell phone.

We had to do some repair work on my chimes.
Thanks Dad and Becky for all of your help.
I painted it all gold.

I'm glad Becky was able to figure how to put it bqck together.
It is good to here it chiming again.

Baseball playoff. Friday October 28.

and she wasn't shy.

He finally got into it on this somg even tho the kids next to him tryed to steal the show.
He took treats today, and told me he gave himself a treat also.
Way to go Landon!!

Wednesday Oct. 26 Last roses of summer

They are still trying to send out beauty but it is freezing outside now.

I'm really going to miss my flowers.  Notice the bee is still trying to get nectar.
They have been so beautiful this summer.

More fruit jam.

Today I made strawberry/peach jam.
Now I have to find room in one of the freezers for it.
It seems like I have taken care of a lot of fruit this summer.

Monday Oct. 23 Fruit, fruit and more fruit.

Monday I took care of almost a box of apples.
I froze 12 more bags of apples.
We should have plenty for the winter.

We have plenty of frozen fruit and jam for the winter.

Now all I need is another freezer.
Ha Ha.  Don't tell Dad I said that or he would have a fit.
Guess I just need to use it more.

Home teachers and visiting teachers.

Today we had VisitingTeachers coming at 2:30 and Home Teachers at 2:45.
They were both late, so it worked out.
TheVisiting Teachers
left just at the Home Teachers came.
Needless to say we were late eating our lunch.
The whole Ensign this month is on the Book of Mormon.
I love the Book of Mormon and I'm glad we will be studying it next year
in Sunday School class.
I've always known that this book is true.
Joseph Smith is a prophet and he translated this book from gold plates.
It is my favorite book of scriptures.

Saturday Oct. 22 - - We cleaned the church today.

Today we were supposed to clean the church house with these families.
Two of the families didn't show up.
We  were to start at 8:30 AM but no one had a key so we
started a little later.
Becky, Dad and I were working in the chapel.
Becky had to leave at 9 as Kathy and Leah took her to IF and out
to eat for her birthday.
We only had a little left of the chapel and one of the men
said he would finish for us.
We were done by 9:30 which I thought was pretty good.

Temple Day - Hamburger soup - pick rest of apples.

This morning we worked in the Temple.
After I got home I made hamburger soup, Great Grandma Bates' recipe.
Grandpas favorite soup.
After Becky came home she picked the rest of the
apples and I took them into the garage and Dad put them in the boxes.
Now we have 4 more boxes of apples.
Guess I will freeze some more about next week.

Today was also library day.
I returned the books that Koria picked out when she was here.

Thursday, Oct. 20---Baking day

Today was baking day.
Two women wanted my apple pie recipe so I finally made
my normal 3 pies and figured out what it is for one pie.

I also made 4 loafes of bread and some rolls.
I was tired when I got done with my list for the day.

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Went to the cabin to get the 4 wheeler.

LOOK AT THE CHANGE IN COLORS.

I spent many hours in this old barn and milked a lot of cows.
Uncle Lyle is still usiing it, but I don't think he milks cows any more.
It was really nice up at the valley today,
Very peaceful.

Tuesday Oct. 18

Monday Dad mowed the lawn with the hand mower.
Tuesday I put sulfur on the raspberry patch and watered all of them.
I fertilized part of the yard and Becky did the rest.

I fertilized all the garden area.

Monday Oct. 17

Apples, apples and more apples.
Becky and I picked apples and peeled, sliced and froze
a lot of them.

The plums are beautiful.
Becky picked most of them.
We have been blessed with a bountiful harvest.

The marvelous view from my chair.

I have the best view in the world from my chair by the table.

They say if you get depressed to look at photos, so I have a lot of them
around me.

You will think you are in our home.
I love you all very much.
Have a great day.

More apple for the freezer.

Today Becky and I peeled, cored and sliced an apple box full of apples.
Then Becky bagged them with 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 cup sugar
and froze them.
I made an apple cobbler with some the other night and it was very good.

Friday Oct. 14

This is our maple tree sporting the fall colors.
Notice the S. Park Ave on the sign and notice Becky peaking through the leaves.

Becky weeded around the peach tree and removed the straberry plants around it.
It looks much better now.

Strawberry patch - Before and After

While I was visiting teaching on Tuesday, Becky slipped out to the garden
area and cleaned out a pathway down the middle of the
strawberry patch.

Look how nice it looks now.
Maybe I will be able to reach the berries next year.
Thank you Becky for your hard work.

More aand more apples.

I peeled a lot of apples today.
Becky helped me cut them up and bag them.

We got 17 bags of apples to freeze.

They aare up in the sky.
Ashly seems to like Aunt Wendy okay.

Scott smiled for me.

I'm not the only one who takes pictures of others.

The adults really got into the carving.

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Today we needed to do some running around.

Aren't these apple beautiful.
We haaven't picked them yet.
Anyone need some apples.

It rained last night and blew a little.
All of these apples were on the ground this morning.
Dad goes out every day and picks them up.

I made peach jam this morning.
Dad took Becky and me out to lunch for Becky's birthday
just a day late.

Becky's Birthday. October 10, 2011

Today was Becky's Birthday.
Dad, Becky, Lance and Derek went to the cabin
They made a gate at the fence at the top of the property by the forest land.
The boys also put the tarp up on the high porch.
The kids took a ride up the canyon.

Sunday afternoon we had some company, Lances family.
They came to wish Becky a happy birthday.
Derek came and spent the night with us.

While the others were up at the cabin, I pulled out the tomatoe
plants and the cucumber plants.
Then when they came back, Derek and Lance rototilled the
garden area.  It looks nice doesn't it.
Now all we have to do is dig out some of the strawberries down
the middle so I can get to them.

Sunday October 9

I wanted a picture of the Blacks before they went back.
As you can see, the two little ones were not happy with this.
