Apples become Pies----

Can you peel an apple without the peel breaking? It is harder than it looks. I peeled 15 apples and made 3 apple pies. It took me most of the day. They sure taste good warm with icecream of course.
I put the peeled apples in salt water so they don't turn brown.
Now here is the finished product. They sure smeel good also. Apples and cinnamon go together and fall is the time to make them. Hope you have a great day.

Sunrise in Teton Valley

This morning after breakfast, Becky and I took the four-wheelers to get a picture of the sunrise. It was still dark when we left and I told Becky to lead the way. She said where do you want to go and I said to the top of the mountain to get the sunrise. She took off and my fourwheeler died and I had to get it started again and she was gone time I got out to the road. I went up the canyon to where the red house used to me and no Becky. I thought maybe she went up the canyon further so I went up to the mud hole and didn't see any tracks so I was confused and decided to go back to cabin. Then I thought, I'll bet she went to the mountain across from cabin and low and behold there she was on top of the mountain. I told her I wouldn't come up there but went back and got this beautiful sunrise as it came over the mountains. She got some beautiful pictures also.
When I got back Dad was walking around and so I had to get his picture.
Becky took the mountain trail over Henderson to Low pass and came down that way. It was a little chilly this morning. Then Becky painted the porch railing and we came home. Wish you all could have been up there with us.

Tuesday October 5th at cabin - work and play

Becky helped Dad build a handrail on the front porch. Dad gave the instuctions and Becky did the work because he shakes and can't do all he would like to. Later Becky primed it and it looks nice and will be a help to us. Then Dad swept off the front porch and he and Becky moved furniture and Becky and I put water sealer on the porch floor.
Then the fun began for Becky and me. We got on the four-wheelers and headed for the top of the mountain across from the cabin. If you look real close, you will see Dad on the front porch. It looks a lot closer than it really is. The quakers are changing colors and it was really pretty.
On the way down the road, Becky had me stop and get a nice picture of the Tetons. We were lucky as the sun had come out a little and we could see them. On our way up to cabin they were pretty well clouded in.
Then we went up Henderson Canyon where we had the Schiess reunion and Becky showed me how to really get a different view and take a rest. It works. Becky took way to many pictures of me tho. I was slower than she was so she turned around and was ready to take my picture when I came down the road. Not fair. I was getting ready to take a moving piture of her coming out of Henderson and she came around behind me. Sneeky I would say. We had a good time anyway.

The flood came in the night

Last night I was very tired and tried to go to sleep and couldn't so I decided to take a bathe to relax me. It did that. I wanted the water a little warmer, so turned on the warm water and quess what? You guessed it. I went to sleep in the tub and the tub runneth over and over and I woke and the water coming in was cold. The bathroom floor had about an inch of water on it and it was going downstairs to the bathroom down there. Dad and Becky had to help me clean it up and then I had quite a washing. I've never done this before. Guess its time to put me in an old folks home. At least all of the rugs and towels are clean.
The outside temp. has not been showing up for awhile, so I changed the batteries inside and out on the tree where I have it.
This is the after picture. The temerature is okay but where did the time go? Bet Derek could tell me. This is one of those things I was going to have him do while he was here this weekend and forgot about it. Never to worry. At least we know it is much cooler outside today than it was yesterday.

Conference, families, and play

Today everyone was here for Conference except Kendra and Jared and family. We watched conference together, ate lots of yummy food, and afterwards the kids and some of the bigger kids went outside to play "ennie I over". So here are the 2 teams to start out with.
The kids in the pickup were looking for the balls coming over the roof. Rod had his job cut out for him. They had a good time playing together. We sure love our family. You are all very special and thank you for the good food.
This is a picture of the tabernacle Choir on Saturday and it isn't too good but you get the idea. We had many wonderful talks to guide us for the next 6 months. We are so blessed to have a Prophet and General Authorities who are guided by our Heavenly Father and who pass on this wisdom to us.

Work, baking and General Conference

This morning after Derek came, Dad, Becky and Derek went outside and did a number of jobs for Dad. It was a beautiful day.
Early this morning we did some baking while it was cooler. Becky made an angel food cake for shortcake tomorrow and I made 3 pies an lots and lots of rolls. Hope you are hungry Tyler. We are anxious to see all of you tomorrow.
While they were listening to conference this morning, Derek and Becky finished the blocks for the three of us. We didn't get ours done on Labor Day weekend.
Then we listened to the General Authories who gave very uplifting talks. I especially love to listen to President Uchtdorf. I'm looking forward to hearing the others speak tomorrow.

Butterflies and roses

Today was a very busy day. I went to the Temple from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Becky took care of it alone until I made it there. Dad worked from 4:30 to 9:00. Afterwards I went to Wallmart and got a few things. Then home and hung out the sheets I washed before I went to Temple. Then did the rest of washing. Becky cleaned out the fridge which was a major project and I did the dishes. Dad rototilled which he has been wanting to do for a long time. Dr. Wilson gave him permission to do anything he wanted to. I picked tomatoes and got 2 gallons. We watered trees and flowers. All in all it was a very long day.
So I was resting in my chair tonight and looked up at my butterflies and roses and thought I haven't taken a picture today so guess what. I really enjoy my lights. The butterflies are lit up but not the roses right now. Enjoy the little things around you each day. I have red and green butterflies also but I'll bet you can't guess which is my favorite.
