Just like every one of these rocks are different, so each one of us are different and each one of us has different challenges in our lives. Sometimes our service to others is not just some good food but takes other forms. When I was getting my visiting teachers reports this weekend I realized that very clearly. Two of the ladies who report to me have very severe health problems which prevents them from coming out to church and almost everything else but Dr.'s appointments. One of these ladies talked to me for about 1 hour and she didn't even have the report finished. She needed a listening ear, not a cookie. The other lady visited about one half hour and shared some of her challenges. We need to have a thankful heart and a listening ear. Today I was running around town doing a lot of things. I was in my tenth place and was in a hurry to get home but then a lady asked me to help her. She was bent over almost half way and leaning on her seat walker with her oxygen tank and she couldn't reach a blouse that was up high. I was able to help her get the right one and then she shared a little of her challenges with me. I am so thankful for the health that I have. I can still get out and do the things I need to do. Many years ago there was a popular song that said "I'm just Thankful for the Things I've Got". I know it isn't proper english but you get the point. We are so blessed.
Way to go Mom! We love you and appreciate all you do for us!
ReplyDeleteThanks for that message, Mom. That's part of the reason we are who we are -- you have always blessed us with a good example to see and a listening ear and loving heart. I love you.
